• do bebops need lubrication?
  Most folks don't find the need for lubrication.   But we have heard from several people who like to use a little White Lightning or Armor All on the cleats before each ride. And believe it or not, some folks swear by PAM cooking spray.
  
  
• my cleats stick out away from the shoe at the front and back. what should i do about it?
  nothing. this is exactly how they are supposed to be set up. since no two shoes have exactly the same curvature of the sole (there is a standard, but it is universally ignored), bebop decided to ignore the curvature itself by attaching only in the middle of the cleat. so don't wedge stuff in there, or bend the cleat or anything else - just ride.



• do people really do serious mountain bike stuff with bebops?

Sure.   Take a look at resident uninsurable risk Scab Boy. (Yes, those are really Bebops up there.   No, we don't recommend this kind of behavior.)

• what is FEA?
  

• does it hurt the cleats to walk on them?  
  No.  We have bioengineered their nervous systems so that they are incapable of feeling pain, although they can experience bouts of depression.
  

• does it matter that the cleat sticks out from the shoe?
  No.   The cleat is made of spring-tempered stainless steel, and is designed to flex without hurting it.  As long as it is firmly attached at the center, the cleat can stick out front and back without a problem.
  

• which shoes should i use?
  In the early days, shoe compatibility was kind of hit and miss. Today there are very few problem shoes. For mountain biking, virtually any SPD-compatible shoe sold today will work just fine. For roadies, we recommend Sidi (for those with narrow feet) and Carnac (for those with wide tootsies). The reason is that the insert systems these shoes use sort of recess the cleat into a cavity lke on a mtb shoe.
  
  The list of problem shoes is short and getting shorter. Some folks have problems with carbon fiber-soled shoes. We can help you make most flavors work, but if you have Northwave Team Road Carbon shoes, you may be out of luck. This is the ONLY current shoe that has made us throw in the towel.
  

• any trick to setting them up?
  There are at least as many tricks as there are kinds of shoes.  The most important thing is to make sure the spindle does not rub against the sole of the shoe.   Set-up really isn't very hard; they just work much better with a careful installation. So read the instructions, and please call us if you have any problems.   We've even been known to set them up for people who had problems doing it themselves.
  
  
• do you sell cleat covers?
  No. As mentioned above, walking on the cleats does not harm them. In fact, we have never seen a cleat that was worn out from excessive walking.

• where can i buy these jewels?

• are bebop pedals for mountain bikes or road bikes?
